What will happen to the 75,000 bar girls in Mumbai following the government's decision to close down the dance bars? If the government is not able to give an alternative job to them or come out with any rehabilitation plan, they will get into prostitution. If this happens, how will the government control the youth and preserve the culture they are talking about? These girls have family members to look after.They will have no other option but to get into prostitution. But don't you think dance bars were luring college students? When the government gave licenses to these dance bars, they did not think about it. This decision is not acceptable. You cannot issue as many licenses as you want and then decide to close all of them without any alternative plan. Bar girls are not prostitutes, they are part of the entertainment industry. What about the allegations of bar girls moonlighting as prostitutes? It is very easy to make allegations. Who are we to talk about morality? So many immoral things are happening in the society. Why are we not attacking other places like big hotels and discos from where the girls are picked? Here they have a license to work as bar girls. What according to you is a viable solution? The government has to decide. We were making rehabilitation plans even when the bars were operational. We were training the girls for alternative employment so that they don't get into prostitution as they approach 35 to 40 years of age. We have also asked the government to take our representative in the committee for rehabilitation.
